CURRICULUM VITAE AND CURRENT PROJECTS
As I continue my journey, I intend to continue to publish additional papers via peer-reviewed journals. My experiences as an instructional designer during the pandemic have given me valuable insight and numerous research opportunities. I recognize that my curiosity is one of my biggest weaknesses; I’m driven to understand things, and I am often sidetracked by innovative ideas or work opportunities. However, I am also driven by a need to share knowledge with others, particularly educators, so that they can use that knowledge to benefit their students.
I recognize that I am not a traditional doctoral candidate; research is not my primary focus. Research is a tool to help me design the most effective learning systems for my students. As education continues to evolve, it is important that we evolve as well; I believe my research can be a part of this evolution. The following projects are things I am currently working on; they are part of my doctoral goals. I hope that you will find value within my candidacy.
CREATIVE ALCHEMY – 50 WAYS TO BRING TECH INTO YOUR CLASSROOM
Currently in review with ISTE Books, Creative Alchemy is a K-12 teacher resource that demonstrates several ways to deliver alternative assessments with technology. Based on my “Creative Toolbox” presentation and rooted in best practices, this manuscript gives teachers a detailed roadmap on how to use sustainable technologies for creative assessments at all skill levels. Anticipated release 2021-2022
TWISTED TECH APP
This application is currently in the funding phase; we are also looking for a small team of curriculum writers to develop additional content. The prototype is in development; we are looking for cost-effective hosting solutions that will ensure maximum reliability. The goal is to create a light, client-side app that will deliver on-demand lesson plans that promote creative uses of technology in the classroom.
TECH DECKS – YOUR OFFLINE IDEA GENERATOR
Tech Decks are the offline version of our Twisted Tech application; each card deck delivers 50 application-specific project ideas for the classroom. Designed for maximum portability, these decks are ideal for teachers who just want a quick way to use an app in their classroom.
ASSESSING KINETIC SKILLS IN AN ONLINE ENVIRONMENT
This is the groundwork for my future; this is my dissertation. This study will establish if there is an effect on student success when they are assessed via video online, rather than traditional online assessment methods. This research has the potential to shift educational paradigms; with the current focus on online education, it is both timely and relevant.
